Finally, it's here :D

Looks great, feels well made and first drive (about 100yards!) reminded us of driving a milk float as a kid!

More news soon.

Haven't gone anywhere yet - this £35k+ car was delivered with enough fuel and charge for 20 miles!

First impressions remain but 2nd impressions coming in pretty quickly after first charge-up.

1) Why can't the lead come out of the front like the mains lead of a vacuum cleaner instead of that great lump of a lead filling up the (reduced) boot?

2) Jack, jack handle and wheel brace come in a bag that is just loose in the (reduced) boot.

There is, however, enough room under the boot floor if the foam padding was shaped very slightly differently.

3) 2nd lead is also loose in the (reduced) boot. Wouldn't need it at all if the idea in 1) could be adopted.

4) Handbook is 440 pages. There are separate, smaller books for some things, why not for charging/plugging/unplugging?

5) Can't find any comment about whether or not one can leave it charging outside in the rain. Pretty stupid oversight if not but dealer advised against it so not sure.

6) Why is it only available in conservative colours?

7) Did I mention the reduced boot space?!

Absolutely agree.

The storage in the boot should have been given some more thought.

There are lots of small things (often easy software fixes) that would make the car more user friendly e.g. why not restart in the same mode as last set? (rather than E default). No easy way to go to hybrid; should go from GTE button off to hybrid, simples! Both E & GTE revert to battery hold.

Reviews (&VW) state; "The result is a combined range of 584 miles when batteries are fully topped-up and tank is brimmed." - Absolute rubbish, even a vicar would struggle to get 400 miles on a run.

It's fitted with an old Type 2 connector that is sometimes hard to find a charge point at service stations.

It is a great car but could and should, have been even better.

By the way, as far as I know, it is fine to charge it in the rain.

Hi Kirky

Thank you for your note re charging in the rain - not having a choice, we gave it a go and survived to tell the tale!

We have ordered a new underfloor foam piece so we can cut it down to make the jack fit under the floor.

Also:
Whatever the stats say, those folk considering one of these should note that not only is the boot floor (much) higher than in the Mk6, the roof is lower too, making the boot aperture MUCH smaller. Ask our dog!

(Plus, we tried the Hatchbag from our Mk6 and it shows the boot floor is slightly wider but noticeably shorter)
