So after about a month of trying to decide whether or not to buy a new Golf R, yesterday I ordered a GTE!

I was looking for something to go through my company on lease and as I am sure we all know, there are deals on the R. But my leasing guy called me up and said, what about a GTE. I laughed (I currently use an Audi RS4 as my daily driver and have done for the last 4 years), I laughed a lot. Then when I looked at the details, it kind of made sense. So I watched some youtube videos, but felt I needed to drive this thing to get some clarity. A quick call to my local dealership and 60 minutes later I had one to myself for the next hour.

Ok, so it's not a V8 Audi, but it's a nice Golf and bearing in mind I'll either be pootling around town or driving up to my Manchester office, this seemed like a good choice. I like smaller cars and have owned many Golfs, so this appealed greatly.

I've got myself a GTE Advance, white with sunroof - everything else is as per standard spec (which suits me just fine). Hopefully I'll have her in about 10 days time. I never thought I'd be so chuffed about getting a hybrid.

Oh, and if anyone is interested, 36 months 12kPA for £320 (with maintenance). With 9% BIK, CC free and all the other benefits this car brings, I'm happy.

Hey Smudge, have you got the GTE yet? It's been more than 10 days....

If so, how are you liking it?

Hey!

Yes, slight delay in getting the car (mainly too busy with work) but I have had the GTE all of 1 week now. Amazing piece of kit. Nothing like the RS4 I have had for the last 4-5 years, but that is exactly why I went for it. Still learning the set up I like the most, getting to grips with finding the good charging places vs the bad and loving having a sunroof back in my life!!

As much as it goes against the 'eco' running of the car, full 'GTE' mode is pokey!

I never thought i would say this but I'm not missing the Audi at all at the moment.

I've also taken to hugging the occasional tree too.......
